 | The National Association of Realtors recently held it's FIRST EVER Green Designation course at the 2008 NAR Convention in Orlando. Both Jeannie and Jim, along with their assistant, Julie, attended this two-day class and are now considered to be among the few founding members of the Green Designation team of Realtors. The course focused on what it means to be green and go green and how we, as Realtors, can play a beneficial role in this up-and-coming, and very necessary, green trend. Some of the topics that were addressed are as follows: Green building concepts, principles and practices Potential cost savings of green features The significance of LEED, Energy Star and other rating systems Regulatory issues, zoning and building codes as they relate to sustainability Sustainable communities and land planning Green living: housekeeping, energy efficiency and air quality Greening your business practices
